Settling in

Well, we've had a few requests for another update but, in truth, there's not much happening at the moment. I got a picture of Mike on his way to work this morning- all clean shaven, he's barely recognizeable! I don't start work until the end of next week, although there's much to prepare for my 5 different courses in a highly regimented new system. Still, I've been true to my usual habit of procrastination and find myself going for lots of jogs and bike rides, sitting on the beach, baking muffins, or whatever else I can do to avoid the prep work. We're definitely enjoying all the variety of summer activities here in Wellington- ultimate frisbee twice a week for me (Mike's still dubious on account of his achilles), live music and dancing happening every night at the Botanical Gardens, there was an extreme sports competition last weekend with some pretty amazing BMX-ing, skateboarding and breakdancing to be seen, and next weekend there's a huge local wine festival up in Hawke's Bay. We also made the first trip out to a mountain biking park on the weekend- I realized that I may be slightly scared of heights and definitely lacked nerve for many of the trails, but it was still a lot of fun. Of course, all these great activities can only be enjoyed by Mike if there's no wind- he's been getting out on the water quite a bit and looks pretty great to me, although there are certainly a few tricks still in the works.

Now wait just a minute. What kind of an image is Mr. Fischer trying to protray here. We Canadians are rugged and manly - that fellow heading off to work looks like he might try to chat up a few young boys en route. I'm sure they weren't looking to hire Mr. Rogers.

Hey Stuey - I like to blend ya know... Fortunately for my wardrobe back home, Johnny, Kev and yourself dressed like bums - I loved it! Now I gotta shave!! Can you imagine that! ARGH! I don't think I will have that here, where wearing my black surf shorts was considered dressing it up.

Charla - glad to see a frisbee featured here and there in your pix! Throw one for me some time.
