The Wairarapa Coast

A windsurf weekend in the Wairarapa. Organzied by the Wellington Windsurfers Association, we packed up the new wheels and off we went to the Wairarapa, just on the opposite side of Wellington.
Our mates were kind enough to let us crash in their Bach, and we crammed ourselves into the kiddies bunks - but better than the tent!! The Wairarapa is a pretty desolate area of New Zealand... lots of inbred types out there yeah. The wind did not cooperate! Leland and I spent Saturday afternoon working on gecko's. Sunday morning, I was the only kook up early enough to score some real wind. Thankfully Leland got a few shots too...
We had a great time and it is always nice to get away from the city! Despite the light winds, as Cheryl and I partied it up at the Lake Onoke Pub with the rest of the gang and a whack of locals. Highlight of the evening? One of the locals driving his Toyota HiLux into a big bonfire by accident and catching on fire, only to burn to cinders along with about 5 surfboards belonging to him and his mates. Insurance claim? Probably, if he had any, which he did not. Sucker!!

Amazing photos! Kooks everywhere?!
Hey Craig!!
Yeah, Leland takes some pretty good photos. I will have to add a credit or something... The lighting was just perfect during that early morning session.
