Bike Trip - Day 11: Arthur’s Pass to Greymouth
Our record trip! An awesome roll down Arthur’s Pass down a few kilometres of 16% grade viaduct through a spectacular beech forest valley and rolling hills approaching Westland. Those kea birds (shown in pic) are a huge nuissance. We had to watch that little bugger like a hawk - h would take any opportunity to pick apart our bikes if we let him. Finally a chance for a date in Grey mouth - all you can eat $5 BBQ and a movie - The World’s Fastest Indian - pretty neat.
Running total: 630km: 105km today!!
Trip Avg. Speed: 18.3km/hr

Amazing trip you two!!
The Griffins
PS Did the $5 BBQ include any kea birds???
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the comments! Hiope all is well back home!
The BBQ was the lamest "sausages" and chow that I have ever eaten, but given how hungry we were, it could've been near anything ;)
Paps - the keas seem to be fairly common, but the kiwis are very rare. We have seen a few keas now, most up in the highlands of Arthur's Pass.
Cheers!
