Bike Trip - Day 1: Wellington to Seddon
Biking day 1:
After a beautiful ferry ride across to the South island, we started pedalling right away, with blazing sun and a gentle breeze. Everything was great until we were ambushed by a cranky old magpie. After the first couple aggressive pecks at Cheryl's helmet, he seemed to have retreated back to the electrical wire where he belonged, but then he came back for several more jabs. We have officially found something that we do NOT like about New Zealand- these magpies have got to go! We crashed at a MotorCamp in Seddon... the place was nothing special, but the showers were hot and we had a nice chat with a sheep shearer- lots to be learned from her!
Stats for the day: 61.4 km in 3hrs 28 min.
